General Club Rules
bulletThe official "NABI General Tournament Rules and Policies" manual is available at any NABI tournament site.  Each member is given a copy when they join.  Below are excerpts from the manual.
bulletMost of our regional clubs are sanctioned by the USBC. All tournament entrants must possess a current sanction card. (These may be purchased at the tournament site)
bulletThe manual mentioned above contains only general guidelines. However, the National Rules are fully enforced at all NABI Week events.  Each individual club has adapted them to suit the members in their areas of the country.  Some basic essentials are uniform throughout the nation:
bulletMembership is open to sanctioned men & women that have book averages of at least 135 but never higher than 205*.  New members must provide written proof of current year averages. (*many local clubs have a lower ceiling on averages)
bulletThe tournament director reserves the right to reject or re-rate any entry - at any time.
bulletA members entering average will be the highest from that past two league seasons, or this years average if over 42 games.
bulletA member will bowl at his/her entering average until they accumulate $300 in tournament winnings, or until their actual pinfall is 20 pins or more per game higher.
bulletIf at any time a members true pinfall is 20 pins or more higher than their entering average, that member will receive a temporary re-rate at half of the difference.
bulletThe director reserves the right to exclude any game for average purposes.
bulletOnce a bowler joins, his/her future league averages will not effect their tournament average unless; over 90 days pass since they last entered a NABI tournament, they bowl less than 21 NABI tournament  games per calendar year or they let their membership expire.
bulletHandicap is 90% of the difference between your entering average and 205, with a maximum handicap of 62 pins per game.
bulletEach time a member does not cash at a regular event, he/she will receive 3 additional "plus pins" added to their handicap(62 pins per game max. still applies).  They will accumulate those plus pins until they cash or until January 1st each year. Cashing  bowlers loose their plus pins on a sliding scale , based on how much they win.
bulletTo qualify for the NABI National Championships, a member must participate in 1/3 of the scheduled local tournaments and bowl 30 tournament games from the beginning of the new year to the last local event prior to NABI Week.
bulletAll members must adhere to the National Dress Code, which include wearing a collared shirt with the NABI logo permanently attached to either sleeve, or either side of the upper front of the shirt.  It also must have the members name permanently attached on the back, in lettering of at least 1½" in height.   Appropriate slacks, jeans or skirts may be worn.  The following are not permitted: hats, shorts, skorts,  sweat pants or other gym type attire.
bulletIt is the responsibility of each member to ensure that his/her equipment meets ABC standards.  Random spot checks are made at the tournament site.   If any ball is found to be illegal, the bowler will forfeit any prizes won.

Tournament Format & Procedures

Tournament Format

The basic NABI tournament format consists of multiple qualifying squads consisting of 3 games. Qualifying cuts may be by the squad, by the day, or in the "beat the board" format.  Qualifying may be determined by a cut ratio (at least 1 of every 5 men and at least 1 in 4 women and see schedule Seniors qualify 1-5 (50+), or a specified number of qualifiers (Top ? advance from each cut See Schedule).   However, a minimum of one of every six entries will cash at each regular format NABI tournament.

Bowlers that advanced from the qualifying squads then bowl a 3 game semifinal block, to try to advance to the finals.  As a rule, pins are not carried over from round to round.  The top 5 handicap scores from the semifinal round then advance to a "Pro-Style" stepladder final.  The 5th seed bowls the 4th seed, the winner bowls the 3rd seed, etc.. until a new champion is crowned.  Winners of local NABI tournaments also receive as part of their prize package, an entry into the National "Tournament of Champions", which pays the winner $5,000.00 every summer in Las Vegas!

100% of all prizes are returned to the members the same weekend, at the completion of the tournament.
